John:

When and where did I get my start at G&R?
My Career with G&R began on November 19, 2002. My first appointment was in Brevard County on the Sawyer avenue project in the capacity of a jobsite Superintendent. This job involved water main, sanitary and road work. Sawyer Avenue came in on time and on labor and equipment budget but overran the materials budget due to the fact that some unknown people stole all the installed copper water services on our new line. Even though I had to drive three hours on a Saturday night to shut the system down I had the satisfaction of knowing that those thieves didn’t leave dry.

What are some of the challenges of a General Pipe Superintendent?
The challenges for me begin with instilling in our pipe crews the importance of consistent quality, productivity and being cost conscious in all phases of the underground operation. Efficient planning and scheduling are also at the top of the list. Day to day people issues either personal or company is always a challenge.

What type of jobs have I worked in and what positions have I held at G&R?
I have considered myself to be very blessed at G&R. In the 6 ½ years I have held the position of Jobsite Superintendent and General Pipe Superintendent. I have performed all of the positions on a Pipe crew in my tenure at G&R. I performed some better than othersJ.

What do I enjoy most about working for G&R?
I could fill a book and bore most people to death with all that I feel is enjoyable about this company. But like with most successful companies it starts at the top. All of us at G&R are truly blessed to have a devout Christian in John Gibbs as our leader. He brings a moral and family environment that we all love and have cherished over the years. This environment fortunately has been carried down through the new and upcoming leaders of G&R. With God’s help I expect great things at G&R. God blessed me immensely by leading me to this company. I could ask for nothing more from an employer.

Meina:

What are some of the challenges you face as an Accounts Payable Supervisor?
Special requirements and requests from each project manger on their projects for both Gibbs & Register and J Register. Also dealing with vendors inquiries on a daily basis; since the market has changed, terms and conditions of vendors are changing dramatically for many of active vendors.

Where and when did you get your start at G&R?
I Started working at G&R in May 2003, the first day I started G&R moved into our previous location on Main Street.

What type of jobs have you worked in and what positions have you held through your years working for G&R?
I started working at G&R as the Receptionist and in Estimating. Then the controller(Marlise) ask the Chief Estimator at that time (Dave Borchert) if I can work in the accounting department because of my knowledge in accounting. So I started working with Laurie Hedrick as an AP Clerk. Then the company was still in transition because it was growing rapidly so then I was doing Purchasing/Account Payable/Contract Admin. Then finally when Rosemarie came on board she offered me the AP Supervisor position; which I accepted.

What do you enjoy most about working at G&R?
I enjoy the people I worked with the family oriented atmosphere, which was projected the first day I started here, I knew this was not just an employer but more like a family. I had many job offers with top pay based on my experience, even some of our vendors offered me a position within their company but I decline, I am more loyal to my family at G&R than I am to a dollar amount.
